Addison Master Plan
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
In all cases, the initial hierarchy of streets created within the Thoroughfare Plan for the Town of Addison was followed. Within the conceptual diagram, locations for open space, parks, and plaza enhancements were identified. The Conceptual Street Diagram also created intersection and entry portal locations for future consideration.

Using the Conceptual Streetscape Diagram as a design basis, RTKL created an overall illustrated master plan to illustrate a street planting plan. The plan is intended to steer future phasing, that will be developed by the Town of Addison, and to direct street tree and streetscape implementation over the next twenty years. Additionally, it is foreseen as one of the primary documents to be used in Addison Arbor Foundations printed marketing brochure to help garner further funding and donor interest.

Within the Streetscape Plan document the emphasis for Addison Road was changed to become a Primary Arterial. This change in hierarchy will be recognized only by the streetscape improvements placed along the road. The project team placed more emphasis on Addison Road due to it's adjacency to Addison Circle, the Addison Conference & Theatre Centre and because it provides frontage to the Addison Airport.

The plan reinforces the locations for open space, park and plaza enhancements that were initially identified in the Overall Conceptual Streetscape Diagram. These generally located places for donor monuments and park improvements. These include not only street tree in-fill planting along existing streets but the development of further plaza and donor dedication improvements through the use of unique hardscape and lighting design elements.

This creates intersection and entry portal locations for future considerations. It is anticipated that from the hardscape intersection elements and lighting design elements that are developed for the Belt Line Road Corridor, that a family of design elements will be established that correspond logically to the hierarchy of intersections throughout the Town of Addison. This will extend to the Tollway entry portals. It is visualized that this will utilize both overpass intersections and underpasses into the Town of Addison as unique portal opportunities.
