Event to Kick Off the Addison Arbor Foundation Arbor Day Event
Addison, Texas, Nov. 8, 2008 — In keeping with the Company's sustainability efforts and Pink Going Green (SM) initiative, Mary Kay Inc. presented a check for $1800 to the Addison Arbor Foundation to plant four trees near the Addison Conference and Theatre Center. The check presentation was made during the Foundation's Arbor Day Event held November 8th at the Addison Athletic Club, 3900 Beltway Drive.
The four, 200-gallon red oaks were placed in front of the historic Stone Cottage, one of the oldest buildings in the Town, on the grounds of the Conference Center at 15650 Addison Road. The row of trees commemorates Mary Kay Inc's 45th anniversity and celebrates the company founder Mary Kay Ash's dream of enriching women's lives.
"At Mary Kay, we know that our actions today affect the quality of life of future generations and this gift of trees will be enjoyed by residents and visitors of the Town for many years to come," explained Crayton Webb, director, Corporate Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility. "We’re proud that Addison is home to our world headquarters and we are happy to do our part in supporting the Addison Arbor Foundation’s goal of planting 50 trees each year for the next 20 years."
"This generous gift of four red oaks by Mary Kay Inc. is so appropriate as we begin the Foundation’s Arbor Day event today where our topic is the proper selection and planting of trees," commented Evie Miller, Foundation chairperson. "Planting trees is such a simple way of improving our environment since they remove ozone from the air, cool our neighborhoods, shade our homes and reduce energy uses."
