Addison In Bloom

Artist: Rachel Rodi and Itzayana Elkins

Location: Les Lac Lake

Details: Addison in Bloom, created by artists Rachel Rodi and Itzayana Elkins, depicts area flowers and pollinators across the seasons in a radiant three-panel glass mosaic. Each panel is approximately 8’ wide by 31” high and is inlaid on a wall facing the Les Lacs pond behind Beltway Drive.

The left panel represents the spring season and features tulips which are planted annually by the Town’s Parks and Recreation Department. Bluebonnets, Indian paintbrush and a prairie celestial visited by a bee complete the spring scene.

Transitioning to summer, the center panel’s flowers include poppy, Indian and swamp mallow alongside cone flowers and prairie verbena. A bright blue, iridescent swallowtail butterfly perches atop the swamp mallow.

As summer comes to an end, there are salvia, yucca, Texas sage and black-eyed Susan as a shimmering ruby-throated hummingbird hovers around the flowers.
